Mystery Surrounds Death of ‘Virgin River’ Star After Shocking Discovery
The entertainment community is mourning the loss of actor Stewart McLean after Canadian authorities confirmed his death amid an ongoing homicide investigation.
McLean, whose television credits included Netflix’s Virgin River and the DC drama Arrow, was reported missing earlier this month before investigators discovered evidence suggesting foul play.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police announced that the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team assumed control of the case on May 20 after investigators uncovered information indicating McLean may have been the victim of homicide.
“Investigators are working to build a timeline of Mr. McLean’s activities,” IHIT spokesperson Esther Tupper said in a public statement Friday.

Best known professionally as Stew McLean, the actor had worked steadily in television productions filmed across British Columbia since 2015. His most recent role came in Virgin River, where he appeared in a 2026 episode of the popular Netflix drama.
McLean was also involved in producing projects throughout the Vancouver-area film community.
