BREAKING NEWS!!! EastEnders’ Oscar to make major love decision as affair is suddenly exposed

It’s been months in the waiting, but it is very much decision time for Oscar Branning on EastEnders next week. After being romantically involved with sister-brother duo Jasmine Fisher and Josh Goodwin, Oscar’s secret will be exposed.

Oscar has found himself in a dramatic love triangle following his involvement with both characters. Firstly, he had a relationship with Jasmine, before having a secret fling with Josh – only to discover that the pair were related!

After reuniting with Jasmine, Oscar has understandably tried to keep his affair on the down low, but he has still found himself drawn to Josh. This game is up next week, however, as Kat Moon discovers the pair kissing.

Teasing the upcoming developments, actor Pierre Counihan-Moullier – who plays Oscar – shared that his character will attempt to navigate his way through it all headfirst, but continually makes the wrong choice.

“Oscar believes he’s in control, yet the more he gets involved, the worse it becomes,” said the star. “He keeps making the wrong decisions in typical Branning fashion. He thinks he can fix everything, but can’t admit he’s messed up.”

“Oscar doesn’t handle confrontation well, and this is the worst-case scenario,” he said of Kat’s discovery. “It’s a low point for him. Despite trying to justify what’s happened, Kat isn’t buying it, which increases the pressure. He’s terrified of what she’ll do next.

“He doesn’t want to hurt Jasmine, and dreads facing her when she finds out. Everything he’s tried to avoid comes crashing down,” continued the actor, who said that the situation is a “wake-up call” for his character.

“It forces him to make a mature decision – he can’t bury his head in the sand anymore. In Walford, secrets never stay hidden for long. Now that Kat knows, it’s only a matter of time before everything comes out.”

While Oscar will attempt to spin several proverbial plates by keeping everybody happy, he knows that he has to choose between Jasmine and Josh. This isn’t an easy decision, as both possess different qualities that Oscar admires.

“Jasmine represents his romantic, chaotic, impulsive, passionate, live-in-the-moment side, while Josh represents who Oscar wants to be – open, sensitive, honest and brave,” explained Counihan-Moullier. “One grounds him, the other amplifies his wilder instincts.

“They share similarities but ultimately have almost opposite temperaments, which makes the choice so difficult. Josh offers something he hasn’t really had before – someone who listens, as well as a sense of security and warmth.”

While Oscar faces a difficult decision, Counihan-Moullier noted how his character feels an enormous sense of guilt over the whole debacle. While Oscar doesn’t want to upset either party, he also doesn’t have loads of first-hand experience to draw from.

“He does feel guilty and beats himself up about it,” said the actor. “He’s never been in a long enough relationship to work out if he’s scared of commitment. It’s awful timing and a completely new situation for him.”

“He’s both avoiding the decision and genuinely confused. Deep down, he knows he must do something he’s never done before: make a mature choice and think about what’s right for himself,” he added.

“He’s following his instincts, but they’re leading him somewhere that could cause pain. Growing up in the fallout of Max’s bad decisions has shaped him, but at the same time, he doesn’t want to be like his dad because he’s seen the damage it causes.”

To make matters even more dramatic, Oscar learns more about Jasmine and Josh’s traumatic childhood, where they were separated. He later brings this up in a conversation with Jasmine, and gets a slap for his troubles.

With Oscar being caught “off guard” by the resurfacing of Jasmine’s temper, he cools down when hanging out with Josh. Could this be a sign that he feels safer with Josh, or will he be drawn to Jasmine’s fiery side?
