Naomi Finally Came Clean In Beyond the Gates

Naomi recently revealed that she is BRCA-positive, leaving the Dupree family completely shaken. She had previously told everyone that her test came back negative, but she later confessed that she had been hiding the truth all along. Safe to say, nobody saw that twist coming.

Now Naomi has another life-changing decision to make. She is thinking about getting a preventative double mastectomy, and everyone around her has their own opinion. Some family members are struggling to accept it, while others are simply trying to be there for her.

Talking to SoapSteph’s Daytime Dish newsletter, Arielle Prepetit admitted those scenes were emotionally draining to film. She said, “I could literally feel the stress in my chest when I was doing the scenes.”

Karla Mosley Made Those Scenes Even More Emotional

Prepetit shared that Naomi first opened up to Dani. For the actress, those scenes came naturally because she has such a strong connection with her co-star. The emotions were very real, and it definitely showed on screen.

She said, “The first person Naomi told was Dani, so I got to do those scenes with Karla [Mosley] and there’s just something about acting with Karla. She can just make me cry. I just get so vulnerable and cry with Karla. I don’t know what it is as a person or her as Dani, it just came out and it felt so good to feel that with her. So, I was really glad that that was the first person that Naomi told.”

After telling Dani, Naomi had to break the news to her husband Jacob, played by Jibre Hordges. It was another difficult conversation, but Jacob’s reaction gave Prepetit all the feels.

Jacob Proved He Was In Naomi’s Corner

Prepetit said Naomi had a lot to explain to Jacob, but she loved how supportive he was, even though he had his own thoughts about everything that was happening.

She said, “and then to tell Jacob [Jibre Hordges], there was just so much that she had to explain, and for him to be as understanding as he was, was really sweet to me.”

She continued, “For him to stand by her side even though he has his own thoughts and opinions, I was like, ‘Oh, yeah, that’s the kind of support you need in a marriage. They’re gonna be fine.’ That’s how I felt when I read the scene. I was like ‘They’re gonna be fine because he is supporting her choice.’ Because it is ultimately her choice.”

Naomi still has a difficult road ahead as she decides whether to go through with the preventative double mastectomy. But if Jacob keeps showing up for her the way he did here, this couple might just make it through one of their biggest challenges yet.
