Ice T Shares SVU Update About Fin Tutuola's Season 28 Return

What happened to Fin Tutuola in Law & Order: SVU Season 27?

After an extensive hospital visit — and a lengthy rehabilitation — following his attack in the premiere episode, Fin appeared only sparingly throughout Season 27. And each time was memorable — like when Fin revealed he was watching Love Island USA as he recovered, talked about his son, Ken Randall, and showed up in SVU’s 2026 crossover with Law & Order.

While Fin was physically cleared to return to duty by Episode 7, he was left mentally shaken by the attack, during which his service weapon was stolen. Fin ultimately admitted to Benson that he needed “little bit more time” before coming back full-time. “Just to get my head around it,” he explained.

“Take all the time you need. There’s always, always going to be a place here for you,” Benson assured him.

And after lots of twists and turns, Fin was back once again and made a huge impact on the final episodes of Season 27, dramatically reuniting with the squad at a crime scene — and revealing that he was assuming the role of acting SVU supervisor during Benson’s suspension.
Corey Cott as Det. Jake Griffin, Peter Scanavino as A.D.A Dominick "Sonny" Carisi Jr. and Ice T as Sgt. Odafin "Fin" Tutuola during Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

No matter what comes Fin’s way, Ice T is “ready” to be on SVU for as long as possible. As the actor explained in a February 2026 interview. “I’m trying to get to Season 28, 29, and 30.”
